CrossFit Littleton Kids!

We have a fantastic kids program here at CrossFit Littleton for children and young adults ages 5 & up. CrossFit Kids is a core strength & conditioning program designed around the unique needs of children and teens. Physical skills and movements are taught including basic gymnastics, plyometric work, running, jumping etc. The workload and complexity are scaled so that they are appropriate for the age of your child. Class is 1 hour long, a ton of fun, & culminates in a game/competition involving CrossFit momvents and methods.

Your children are welcome to train for a week free to see if our program is a good fit. Class times are Monday and Wednesday at 5PM and Saturday at 11:30AM. Please try and show up 10-15 minutes early so that you and your child get a chance to meet and talk with the instructor(s) and fill out an info. sheet and waiver. These times coincide with our adult CrossFit classes making a family trip to CrossFit Littleton fun, easy and convenient.

Things our program can do for you and your child:
  • Develop a broad and inclusive fitness and athleticism that readily carries over to other athletics
  • Instill a positive work ethic
  • Hedge against childhood and adult obesity
  • Provide a positive outlet for physical expression
  • Build confidence
  • Improve general focus and brain function through regular exercise
  • Provide a sense of community and a place to make new friends

CrossFit Littleton Kids Instructor Derek Couse

Born and raised in Littleton, CO, I grew up living an active lifestyle which included participating in organized sports and simply playing with kids in the neighborhood. As I grew older and became less active, I found it more difficult to maintain the fitness level I was accustomed to. Simply going to the gym and lifting weights for an hour wasn’t satisfying; physically or mentally.

In May of 2009, my wife Lorie and I stumbled into CrossFit Littleton by complete accident. I had never heard of CrossFit but after witnessing 10 minutes of a WOD, I was hooked. The workouts, the music and the people kept me coming back. It didn’t take long to realize the positive transformation in body composition, fitness level and mental health. Now you can’t keep me away.

When Lorie and I joined CrossFit Littleton, we had a 2-year old son, Dalton. CrossFit had become our normal routine so naturally, Dalton grew up around it. Before long, he was asking about certain movements and actually performing burpees at the Colorado CrossFit Games alongside his mom. It quickly became evident that CrossFit was for all of us.

Knowing the obesity epidemic among children in our country, I wanted to do my part to help make exercising fun and beneficial for Dalton. When I was approached about helping coach the CrossFit Littleton Kids Program, I couldn’t have been more excited. CrossFit Littleton provides a great environment for kids to exercise, meet new friends and learn the basics to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
